2012 Year In Review: Geek Alabama’s Top Animation

Geek Alabama Animation Geek Alabama New Year

2012 has been a great year in the animation department.  I have enjoyed several great cartoons and I thought I would share my top 10 animated shows for 2012!

The Legend of Korra

This is the only show on Nickelodeon to make the list.  The spin-off from Avatar: The Last Airbender has done very well!  I enjoy the top-notch animation and great storytelling.  Book 2 premieres this spring!

Gravity Falls

The newest animation on Disney Channel is liked by many people.  This show has some strange mysteries like you might have seen on the classic Scooby-Doo cartoons.  Disney needs to get some new episodes back on the air!

Phineas and Ferb

This show now entering its fourth season is still doing very well!  The storytelling has always been top-notch and the amount of guest stars appearing is what makes this show great.  Can’t wait for the Marvel crossover airing the summer!

Adventure Time

Something about this show on Cartoon Network has me hooked.  Adventure Time features some strange characters after a nuclear war in the strange land of Ooo.  I always enjoy the new episodes!

Archer

This list is not complete without some adult animation.  Archer is coming back for its fourth season January 17th and I can’t wait!  I always love the violent action and the adult action as well!  Some weird things do happen on this show!

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

Why would I include a girly cartoon in the list?  This cartoon on The Hub has a massive amount of teenager and adult fans!  It’s not about the ponies, it’s about the great storytelling that makes this show a huge hit!

Young Justice

One of the few action animated shows I enjoy is Young Justice.  The show has a more dark tone but it has a lot of action!  Sadly this show has taken a long break but it will return with new episodes in January on Cartoon Network!

Regular Show

Something about this show also attracts many fans.  Regular Show features a Blue Jay and a Raccoon going on some interesting adventures!  These adventures are what makes this show work!

Dragons: Riders of Berk

The spin-off from How to Train Your Dragon is airing on Cartoon Network.  This series is to bridge the gap until How to Train Your Dragon 2 premieres in summer 2014.  Something about dragons is what makes me like this show!

Futurama

One has to wonder on why FOX cancelled Futurama in the first place.  After the fans got involved Comedy Central picked up this show and it has done well ever since!  I love the storytelling and laughs in this show!
