16 Days Left Until Christmas

At the North Pole:

We are getting close to the Christmas flight!  And that means the reindeer are now getting ready.  The North Pole has a full-time veterinarian to monitor the animals health.  Also the reindeer are being feed a lot of food because they will need the energy during the long Christmas flight.  The reindeer are also being fitted in their harnesses and are being groomed.  They get all the pampering they want!  At least the reindeer will not end up like this in the cartoon below.

Christmas Song:

The Little Drummer Boy (originally known as “Carol of the Drum“) is a popular Christmas song written by the American classical music composer and teacher Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941.  It was recorded in 1955 by the Trapp Family Singers and further popularized by a 1958 recording by the Harry Simeone Chorale.  Of course many people know about this song because of the animated special put out in 1968 by Rankin/Bass.

Autism now affects 1 in 88 children.  Here is a organization that promotes and helps people on the autism spectrum.  Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism.  Their longtime friend Bernie Marcus donated $25 million to help financially launch the organization. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

I am on the autism spectrum with Asperger’s Syndrome and I hope you can help Autism Speaks!  For more information go to: http://www.autismspeaks.org/.
