The Hobbit Playing Cards, A Beloved Adventure—Brought to Life by Hand.
The Hobbit has inspired generations of readers with its unforgettable characters, perilous journeys, unexpected friendships, and the promise of adventure waiting just beyond the front door.
For this project, I have reimagined the characters and world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved book through two distinct decks of playing cards: The Expanded Edition and The Companion Edition.
Every court card began as an original drawing, traditionally inked by hand and painted with watercolor. The natural texture of the ink, the subtle variation of the paint, and the evidence of the artist’s hand give each character a warmth and personality that could not be achieved digitally.
Together, these two decks form a richly illustrated tribute to one of the greatest fantasy adventures ever written.
As of November 3rd, this project has raised $163,000 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 2 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $14, you will get one companion edition. For a pledge of $16, you will get one expanded edition. To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kingswildproject/the-hobbittm-playing-card-deck?
