My name is Christopher Paul Stelling. I’m a songwriter currently based in Atlanta. To date I’ve released 6 albums and have been touring the US and Europe regularly for over a decade.
I’m doing this Kickstarter as a pre-order and a fundraiser for my 7th album. My last experience with this method of releasing new music in 2021 was by far my favorite experience to date.
My life has changed drastically in the past 9 months and I’m doing my best to process and accept those changes through my craft. These past years have also presented difficulties for musicians like me who make their living on the road, but things are coming back slowly.
I’ve got this album written. It’s a double album. 20 tracks. 2 LPs. I’ve got it demoed out and I have a good bit of it recorded, but to be honest, a deadline would be very helpful in getting it over the finish line, and this campaign feels like what I need to get it there.
On this album I’ll be recording it all at my home studio in Atlanta, where I moved this time last year. I’ll be going for a slightly more adorned sound compared to the previous Forgiving It All album, but it’ll still be very homespun so don’t worry. I’ll most likely be playing all the instruments myself and recording and producing it myself, but I haven’t ruled out bringing in some help. We’ll see how this goes!
I’m not really ready to talk about the subject matter, but I hope getting these songs out in the world will help me process that which I feel reluctant to speak about in this moment… It’s all very personal, it all stings, but it’s sounding good so far. Maybe it’ll help someone going through something similar down the line.
The money will go to helping me get through production, mixing, mastering, shipping, marketing, promotion, and of course the creation of the physical products… as I’m sure you know, none of this is ever cheap, and everything is so much more expensive than it was just a few years ago
