THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS is a horror comedy musical produced by Starkid Productions in 2018, about an average guy named Paul, whose life is turned into a musical hell when an alien entity crash land in his tiny town of Hatchetfield. THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS had a successful, sold-out run, garnered millions of views on YouTube, and spawned two sequels (BLACK FRIDAY, and NERDY PRUDES MUST DIE) and an anthology series called NIGHTMARE TIME.
Despite it’s popularity, only a couple hundred people got a chance to see the show live. This campaign hopes to rectify that with StarKid’s very first full remount! With your help, THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS will be returning to the stage for a special limited run, giving you a chance to experience this cult classic live and in person!
THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS will be returning to the stage for a limited, four-weekend run at the El Portal Theater in Los Angeles, CA for July of 2025. After the live run, digital tickets will be made available those who couldn’t make it to the show. We’ll also be posting a video of this 2025 remount to YouTube. We in no way want to replace the original version, but if you’re curious what the show would look like with a larger stage and a bigger budget, then this remount is for you. The remounted production of THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS will be directed by Lauren Lopez. It will star Jon Matteson, Lauren Lopez, Joey Richter, Corey Dorris, Jaime Lyn Beatty, Jeff Blim, Mariah Rose Faith Casillas, and Will Branner. More info on the creative team coming soon!
