Some of you may know, we were the content team for Stargate Command: interviews, documentaries, quizzes and fan stories. When the app shut last year, it was a sad day for the community. However, several fans reached out and inspired us to keep going and that’s led to The Companion. And you, our community is making that happen!
One part magazine, one part ‘making of’ companion book, one part DVD extras.
What you won’t find with us are critic reviews, retrospective ‘2 out of 5’ star ratings. We’re about the stories that take us deeper:
- DVD extra-style making ofs, the creative process, and stories from the productions
- In-depth analysis & deep dives into the blockbusters, big shows, and cult classics
- New perspectives from award-winning sci-fi novelists and screenwriters
- Beyond the screen: Rollercoasters, videogames, soundtracks, and the cultural & technological impacts of these franchises
- Science of sci-fi: AI, robots, and the inspirations from real-world innovation
- Trying to hunt down these stories, books, and videos can be expensive or hard to find so we wanted to build a home that could offer all of these stories but inexpensive, like $1 a week.
We’re always blown away by the inspiring stories we hear from the Sci-Fi fandom. Not only because we’re fans ourselves, but because we’ve seen the impact these stories can have on studios and creators, and the push they can give to bringing a franchise back. That’s why we’re dedicated to showcasing as many as we can find.
