Crowdsourcing Mornings: Voices: Envisioning Change Through Storytelling

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Voices is a non-profit, multimedia organization dedicated to uncovering inequalities and delivering stories from marginalized communities around the world.

In light of recent protests around the world, it is clear that diversity isn’t simply a choice for change—it’s a necessity. As millions of individuals make their grievances heard, it is glaring that many communities’ stories have went untold for far too long. A large percentage of media has consistently prioritized the historically dominant narrative with little regard for those who might be at a disadvantage due to their race, gender, ability and/or background.

Through conversations, inquiries and examinations, a number of journalists and storytellers from diverse backgrounds have come to the conclusion that in search of a better, more just world, we must question how our storytelling affects marginalized people. This conclusion is based largely on one common question amongst us all.

As of July 7th, this project has raised $5,500 of their $7,500 goal. This project has 39 days left to raise the $7,500 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $1, you will get one postcard.  For a pledge of $10, you will get behind the scenes access.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lindseykiah/voices-envisioning-change-through-storytelling?
