Do you love cheesy horror movies? Stoner humor? Old surf videos? Punk rock music? How about the vibe of old-school Saturday morning cartoons? If you’re nodding along, you’re our target audience.
The mission of this campaign is to tell a story that we have been working on for 2 years now, prioritizing themes that mean a lot to us as creatives. We’ve build a world filled with rich characters, mysterious villains, interweaving story arcs and fish tacos. We then spent $25,000 to create a trailer and soundtrack that gives a taste of our vision for this series.
We’ve taken it as far as we can go alone and now we need your help on this Kickstarter Campaign. The goal of this campaign is to raise money towards developing the pilot episode of Vampire Surf Cult. The more success we have in this campaign, the more animation we can produce. Every dollar is going towards producing the best pilot possible (as well as some stretch goals extras!) and the more backers we have the longer and better our first episode will be!
In August we shared our trailer and music, and have been blown away by the response. From fan art to full blown Thrash tattoos (no really), we are beyond stoked at the response. We’ve had hundreds of voice actors, animators, background artists, character designers, writers, bands and other creatives reach out to see if they could contribute to our project. With funding from backers, we can assemble the perfect team to bring the story of Blood Island to your shores!
Vampire Surf Cult will aim blend dark comedy with soulful introspection. ‘Blood Island’ juxtaposes stoner humor with deep philosophical questions about life, identity, and the choices that define us. Think “Futurama” meets “The Lost Boys”. This series will combine the nostalgic charm of a 1990’s Saturday morning cartoon while the mature language and themes resonate with a contemporary adult audience.
But what is this show about? Vampire Surf Cult focuses on a young man named Cody who lands on Blood Island, an enigmatic paradise inhabited by carefree creatures of the night. The only thing is, he has no memory of his past.
Vampire Surf Cult tells the story of a human named Cody that washes up on an island of fun loving, blood drinking, night surfing monsters. Cody realizes he has no recollection of his past, but slowly his memories return to him. He now needs to make a choice: Return to his mortal life or escape his reality on this island of immortals? This choice is further complicated by the relationships he makes on Blood Island, and the villains he faces.
As of March 5th, this project has raised $17,600 of their $25,000 goal. This project has 9 days left to raise the $25,000 or it will not be funded.
