Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment! Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others. The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal. Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Ever wonder who would win a fight between Omni-Man and Homelander? Mario versus Sonic? Cap’n Crunch versus Tony the Tiger? It’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win an epic fully animated battle… with math and science!

Thanks to the amazing support of our community, the Champions, this web show has been turning heads on YouTube for over a decade now. You may have seen one of our episodes back in the day, but if you’re not in the loop, we’ve come a long way since the old days of short sprite fights. We think it’s important that Death Battle is always growing and improving.
And now we’re INDEPENDENT!
For the first time in the entire history of the show, the creators of Death Battle (us!) actually own the show! We’re super excited, but Death Battle has always operated under big companies like Rooster Teeth until now, so we don’t have funding from a big corporation anymore.
Death Battle is a fairly expensive and complex show to produce, but with your help, we hope to raise enough funds to literally kickstart the show!
Between animation, music, research, writing, editing, modeling, rigging, sound design, and so much more, there’s a lot that goes into one episode — and a lot of people! We want to bring back as many members of the incredible team from last year’s production as we can.
The good news is we’ve already started! Four new Death Battle episodes are part-way done, give or take, including some of the animation. Our initial goal of $75,000 will allow us to complete animation and the rest of production on those episodes.
Afterward, our intent is to continue Death Battle beyond what is funded here with support from sponsorships, ad-sales, and YouTube Memberships. However, you can guarantee we make more episodes of Death Battle, along with exciting rewards and team-ups, by helping us reach our stretch goals!
As of August 1st, this project has raised $511,000 of their $75,000 goal. This project has 29 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $20, you will get digital goodies. For a pledge of $50, you will get one poster. To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deathbattle/save-death-battle?
