I invite you to join me in supporting a new and exciting initiative: the Black Men Talk Play Festival. This festival is a celebration of the voices, stories, and perspectives of black male playwrights. The festival will showcase the works of new and emerging black male playwrights from across the country, and provide them with mentorship, feedback, and exposure. The festival will feature networking opportunities for the playwrights and the theater community.

The Black Men Talk Play Festival is a project that aims to promote and advance highlight the voices of Black Male artists who can be overlooked or excluded. This 10 minute play festival will be held in Chicago in Spring 2024 with our first group of up to 10 black male playwrights. The festival is expected to attract theater lovers, critics, and industry professionals, and to generate positive media attention and social impact.

However, we need your help to make this festival a reality. We are launching a fundraising campaign to raise money that will cover the costs of renting venues, hiring staff, paying royalties and marketing. We are asking you to make a generous donation to support this worthy cause. No amount is too small or too large. Every dollar counts.

By donating to the Black Men Talk Play Festival, you will be making a difference in the lives of these talented and deserving artists. You will also be contributing to the diversity and vitality of the theater scene in Chicago and beyond. You will receive recognition on our website and program booklet. You will also be invited to attend the festival and meet the playwrights in person.

As of December 19th, this project has raised $4,000 of their $10,000 goal. This project has 13 days left to raise the $10,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $100, you will get your name in their program.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bmentalkplayfest2024/bmt-black-men-talk-play-festival?
