Coral provides affordable, high quality learning materials – built on a platform that enables long term retention. Our current education system is facing a multitude of challenges that are hindering the learning process and creating barriers for students of all backgrounds. Coral empowers students to overcome these challenges at their pace and without major financial investment.
Learning Loss
The issue of “learning loss” has become increasingly prominent, especially in the wake of the pandemic. Traditional learning methods often fail to ensure long-term retention of knowledge, leading to a decline in academic performance over time.
High Cost of Education
The cost of education, particularly for standardized test preparation and advanced courses, is prohibitively high. This financial burden often discourages students from pursuing their academic goals, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. The high cost of content review courses, for instance, can deter premed students from taking the MCAT, contributing to a significant demographic discrepancy in the medical field.
Ease of Use
Some long-term learning platforms, like Duolingo, are easy to use but only offer limited content areas. Other long-term learning platforms are more difficult to use and require you to make your own cards – or use community-built cards that may or may not be reliable.
The Solution
Coral is a platform that provides curriculum and test prep for AP high school courses, ACT courses, MCAT courses, and NCLEX courses – designed to be cost effective and to promote long term learning.
Coral combats learning loss by integrating Spaced Repetition Learning (SRL) into homework and reviews through an open platform called Etch. Based on this SRL algorithm, Coral will tell you what you need to review that day in order to optimize your study time. This ensures that you retain what you learn long term, and won’t need to stress about cramming before your exam.
Even if you forget a concept while studying, Coral provides quick-access to brief explanations and short tutorial videos alongside your homework. It also offers textbooks tailored to standardized test outlines and quality video lectures, making it a comprehensive and user-friendly learning platform.
As of November 27th, this project has raised $2,800 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 45 days left to raise the $5,000 or it will not be funded.
