Roadscapes Wednesday: New Traffic Lights On US 431 At Bynum Leatherwood Road And Gladden Lane

Welcome to Roadscapes Wednesday, each week this post will talk about roads and infrastructure related topics.  I am called the “road geek” for a good reason, I love roads and love talking about roads!

New traffic lights have been activated along US 431 in Calhoun County.  The new traffic lights are at Bynum Leatherwood Road and at Gladden Lane.  At Bynum Leatherwood Road, this new traffic light is unique.  Northbound US 431 traffic does not stop, they will always have the green light.  Drivers turning left onto Bynum Leatherwood road have a flashing yellow arrow.  And traffic turning left onto US 431 will have to merge onto US 431 north traffic.

I hope once the repaving project is complete, that ALDOT will put some delineators to separate the left turning traffic onto US 431.  For now, construction barrels are there.

Here are some pictures of the new traffic light.

At Gladden Lane, this is a new traffic light with flashing yellow turn signals for traffic turning onto Gladden Lane.  I love how the paving contractor taking the stop sign down was standing on the door.

Here are some pictures of this new traffic light.
