On this Trainscapes, I wanted to share a video I shot of the LORAM Rail Grinder that came through Oxford, Alabama grinding the rails on the Norfolk Southern Railroad. A railgrinder is a maintenance of way vehicle or train used to restore the profile and remove irregularities from worn tracks to extend its life and to improve the ride of trains using the track. This is important as Amtrak uses this stretch of railroad as well. See the rail grinder in action below!
