Celebrate 30 Years Of Pizza Hut’s Book It!, And Get A Free Personal Pan Pizza

Advertisements

Remember when you were a kid, and you read books, and got rewarded by getting a free Personal Pan Pizza at Pizza Hut?  The program is called Book It!  It started in 1984, when Pizza Hut’s company president had a son who was struggling with reading. Knowing how important reading is, he told him to work hard at his reading and if he did, they would go to Pizza Hut – just the two of them – and celebrate.

Realizing that the combination of a little Personal Pan Pizza and some special one-on-one time could make a difference for other parents and their children, he gathered educators – teachers, librarians, and principals – and created The Book It! Program.
Now, 30 years later, the Pizza Hut family – along with hundreds of thousands of educators across the country – still believe and champion it today.  Yes, Book It! is now 30 years old!

And to celebrate Book It’s 30th anniversary, Pizza Hut has launched the Book It! alumni program.  And if you think kids were only reading because they wanted free pizza, at least the pizza encouraged kids to read!  Since 1984, over 60 million kids have been a part of the Book It! program, that’s 1 in 5 Americans.  Pizza Hut has also rewarded more than 60 million pizzas, that’s a lot of cheese!

Pizza Hut is wanting all people around the world who participated in the Book It! program to become a part of their alumni network.  After filling out a short survey, you get a coupon to remind you of your childhood, one free Personal Pan 1 topping pizza, carryout only.  If you want to become a part of the Book It! alumni, go to:  http://bookitprogram.com/bookitalumni/  The pizza offer ends after October 10th.

Book It! and Pizza Hut announced that they will be launching a Book It! mobile app for kids that provides a reading dragon companion and fake-money incentives. And one current Book It! kid will get the chance to win 30 thousand dollars toward college.  Below is a video from Book It! showcasing it’s 30 year history, in a yearbook form, enjoy!
