Summertime in Alabama can sometimes bring on weather trouble. In Summer you can see numerous cloud to ground lightning strikes from those afternoon thunderstorms. And those lightning strikes do injure and kill people. You can also see tropical storms and hurricanes come into the state from the Gulf of Mexico. During those afternoon thunderstorms they can produce large hail, damaging winds, and even flooding. West Anniston saw a thunderstorm Saturday Evening that dumped a lot of rain in a short amount of time. The result was flooding in parts of West Anniston. The flooding did surround a few homes with water and flooded out a few streets. Here are some pictures of the flooding.These last photos are a lesson to everyone. You NEVER drive through water over a road! This person learned the hard way about driving through high water and having to send the fire department and police department to the rescue. Remember this motto from the National Weather Service. If you see flooding ahead; turn around, don’t drown.
