Chocolate really does taste worse lately… and I wondered… what the heck is going on?
Brad Reese, the grandson of H.B. Reese, the man who invented Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, recently called out Hershey’s for ruining his family’s famous chocolate candy.
That sent me down a rabbit hole about why chocolate, chocolate bars, and our favorite candy bars don’t taste the way they used to. From Hershey’s and Reese’s to cheap chocolate substitutes and “chocolatey” coatings, I wanted to know what happened to real chocolate.
And what I found was a story that goes back almost exactly 20 years.
