Welcome to the Good News Fridays segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Good News Fridays will feature something good, wholesome, positive, and overall something great. After a long and stressful week, we all need something good to read or watch on Fridays! Enjoy a heartwarming post below.
Our American dream came true… we experienced life on a ranch!
After a morning exploring the wonderful city that is home to the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, we took a short drive out to Carbon Hill to Tack Tavern Ranch where we stayed for the next two nights, and what a couple nights it was!
We were greeted by the lovely Denny, and their ten dogs, yes, I said TEN. DOGS. The dream.
We got settled in our cosy abode for the night and took a short walk over to the saloon for a lovely evening of making friends out of strangers, eating home-grown food, a bit of horse-back riding (just for Amy Jane!), terrible Irish dancing and having the craic!
After a restful sleep, we were woken up by the sounds of ranch life in the southern countryside and hit the road for a quick drive into the small town of Carbon Hill for a bite to eat.
We found a hidden gem of a diner called Mava’s kitchen, where we got enough to feed a family of 5 and our caffeine hit, and we even got chatting to some friendly local ladies!
After filling our bellies with some feel-good southern comort food, we headed back to the ranch for the day!
We had only planned to stay the one night, but we loved it so much that we could not bear to leave and decided to stay an extra night!
We had another day filled with playing games, shooting guns, riding horses, learning how to rope and enjoying good company with new people.
We loved our time on this ranch in the Alabama countryside so much and made new friends for life and we left the next morning with our hearts full.
It is safe to say we found a true slice of heaven in Alabama.
