Edwards wrote his first hit song in U.S at the age of 14, on Philly Sound Records, Lonely Man. He is an entrepreneur with an extensive background of over thirty-five professional years in entertainment, international concert promotions, music and film producing and directing, artist development, and digital content management. In 1979, he founded Sonic Jett Production. As a recording artist Jett Edwards has more than five Top 10 hit songs released on the U.S. Billboard charts.

Edwards also co-founded The Japan Mass Choir, 1,000 members, the world’s largest community Gospel choir and the first Japanese gospel recording artist to ever hit USA Billboard Gospel Music charts #3. The group is still in high demand for USA tours and was nominated the Dove Awards in 2016.

2024: His most recent single release (“Stand for the flag, Kneel for the cross”) hit #14, on the Southern Gospel, Positive Country charts.

January, 19th, 2024, The Gospel Quartet Convention will present Edwards with the (Howard Carroll/Spanky Afford Award. This award is given in honor of Howard Carroll the legendary guitarist for the World Famous Dixie Hummingbirds and “Spanky” Alford, one of the most impacting guitarists of all time.

As a songwriter producer, he’s stopped counting. Edwards has managed/produced and shared the stage with artists such as The Jackson’s family label (Jackson Records as A &R Director), Leon Ware, Wayne Henderson – Jazz Crusaders, Five Blind Boys of Mississippi and Alabama, Charlie Wilson, Edgar Winter, Gap Band, KC & The Sunshine Band, Swan Silvertones, Soul Stirrers, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, Tuck & Patti, James Brown, Dionne Warwick, Isley Brothers, The Temptations, George Benson, Motown Records and more.

Edwards has spent the past thirty plus years abroad in Japan opening business opportunities and building a bridge of opportunities for many American artist, companies, entrepreneurs seeking to do business abroad. He has served as a concert promoter for the U.S. Military and management agent in the U.S. and Japan supporting companies including Rising Productions, Creative Man Production, Udo and Kyodo Tokyo, Universal International, Avex artist development, Stargate, Sun Music, and Watanabe Productions etc. In 2002, Edwards produced Japan’s first International Music School of Arts, he founded and served as COO of Wisdom Entertainment Network, Inc, Japan’s largest holder of American mobile digital content, celebrity ringtones, mobile site development, partnering with companies like Duwango, Ito-Chu, Dentsu, Polydor, Universal Vivendi, Universal Music, Walt Disney, etc. Dr. Edwards has been an Japanese Government employee, twelve-year Professional Educator at Tokyo Gakugei- Dai-Gaku, (University), teaching Music and American Culture.

In 2009, Edwards launched a nonprofit organization, Believers Today, which is a music outreach organization that specializes in trauma care, where he is now applying his business and creative acumen. Its main purpose is to uplift the hearts & souls of those in need due to the rise in gun violence natural disasters and other unforeseen situations. Spiritually driven Edwards returned to his roots and begun his Gospel Music journey in Japan using music to embrace humanity and encourage people who were impacted by the 2011 Tsunami. Through Believers Today, he and others have visit the devastated areas of Tohoku, Ishinomaki, Fukushima, and many other surrounding areas and over twelve U.S. states encouraging all with the healing of songs.

In 2017, Edwards attended classes at SIM, the Trauma Healing Institution, where he became certified Master Facilitator for Trauma Healing through a program offered by The American Bible Society. Since then, he has held trauma healing, music therapy and Instrumental healing sessions for hundreds of military veterans, recovering disaster survivors, individuals, families, communities, churches and other outreach organizations as part of Believers Today’s Songs on Wheels and I Believe Tours in USA, Japan, Worldwide.
