Democrats are wondering how they can attract younger people to their side. And yes, Democrats have a massive problem attracting younger people, it’s really bad.
Millennials and Gen Z are rapidly becoming conservative at an alarming rate. If Democrats cannot figure out how to attract younger people, they are going to go extinct, it’s that simple.
So I have a list here of five ways Democrats can attract younger people. This list is specific for Alabama. But in my opinion, this is what Democrats need to do here in Alabama to attract younger people.

1: Football, Football, Football
Alabama is a football driven state, especially at the high school and college football level. It seems like Democrats here in Alabama completely ignore the biggest thing the state has to offer and that is football.
With Tommy Tuberville running for governor, this is going to be the football election. And Democrats need to embrace football!
I would encourage every Democrat candidate running to go to their local high school football games every Friday night this fall. That’s right, from mid-August until the election in November, you must go to high school football games every Friday night.
And on Saturdays, I would go to your nearest college football game including Alabama and Auburn. Every Saturday from Labor Day weekend until the November election.
Just go to your local high school or college football game, and talk to people. This is where the community goes, and Democrats need to talk with community members about the issues. While you are at these games, cheer on the football players, the marching band, the cheerleaders, and so on.
Democrats need to show some community pride! And one way to do it is by going to high school and college football games. And before the football season, I would go to every community festival being hosted in your local community as well, just to talk to people.
Democrats need to do a better job reaching out to the communities where they are based.
2: Social Media and Podcasts
If there is one thing Republicans are really good at, it is social media and podcasts. Democrats struggle to get their reach on social media and podcasts
Young people do not watch cable news channels, or the evening news, or read news websites anymore.
Young people get their news from social media influencers, or from podcasts.
Democrats around here continue to think they can rely on billboards, or only using Facebook to get their message out. It does not work that way anymore.
I have been continually saying Democrats around here must get more active on social media which includes videos. Social media videos are a must in today’s media world. And the videos must include captions as well. You must invest in Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
But it’s not just social media. Democrats must also do podcasts. The Republicans have done a great job with podcasts.
Here in Alabama for example, there is the Alabama Student Eagles podcast being run by students from Cullman. This podcast features Republican politicians and figures. This is something Democrats need to start doing immediately!
We need to find a place to host a weekly podcast to talk about the issues and to interview Democrat figures. This is a must unless you want all young people to stay away from Democrats.
3: Religion
Alabama is one of America’s most religious states. Many people here in Alabama regularly go to church. And we know many churches here in Alabama tend to be Republican and conservative. This is a fact.
We have seen more younger people reach out to church over the past few years. And we have seen more younger people become more religious over the past few years as well.
If Democrats cannot figure out how to attract the religious community here in Alabama, they will go extinct.
So Democrats need to figure out how to attract people who regularly go to church. And I hate to say this. It means Democrats are going to have to moderate on some of their issues. That’s a tough thing to say, but that is the truth.
4: Being Culturally Relevant
If there is one thing Democrats do terribly, is being culturally relevant in today’s world. Young people do things very differently than people did 30 years ago.
For example, young people are really into gaming. Everything from video games, board games, card games, and every type of game you can think of. Young people love games!
But do I see Democrats talking about gaming, nope! They are too busy instead protesting on the side of the road. I would love to see Democrats talking more about gaming. Heck, Democrats should host gaming nights. Maybe a gaming tournament, a video game tournament, you get the idea.
Another thing young people love doing is being active and physically fit. There are numerous videos on social media showing younger people working out at the gym. We have even seen Democrat candidates post social media videos of them working out in the gym as well. Democrats have to embrace this as well.
Another thing young people are into is music and concerts. Young people love their music! Democrats would be smart to host a music festival, a music event, this would bring young people out!
The point is, Democrats suck at being culturally relevant. And if they can’t figure this out, they are doomed.
5: The Young Male Problem
There has been a lot of talk about the manosphere. And the rapid acceleration of young men becoming conservative.
It seems like Democrats only concentrate mostly with women, especially when they talk about issues like abortion. But if Democrats cannot attract young men, they have no chance of winning.
Democrats must do a better job talking about issues that affect young men. And let’s admit it, young men are being left behind. In all areas of life from education to the workforce to marriage.
And Democrats need to celebrate things that young men are into. Things like gaming, things like wrestling, things like UFC fighting, things like hunting and fishing which are really big here in Alabama.
I would love to see Democrats talk about hunting and fishing more, that is one great way of attracting young men here in Alabama.
Democrats need to do a better job to embrace young males, instead of concentrating on only young women.
One other thing I need to mention, is I cannot believe Democrats don’t have their own version of Turning Point USA. You have to give Turning Point USA credit for attracting younger people. This is one thing Democrats must correct quickly!
Democrats can talk about things like affordability all they want. But if they cannot attract younger people, they will never win again. Hopefully other ideas will come from this post.
Because Democrats must embrace younger people, or they will go permanently extinct like the dinosaurs.
