Welcome to the Trainscapes segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Trainscapes will feature train content including videos of trains and behind the scenes action of trains and locomotives. Some people have an interest in seeing trains, and we here at Geek Alabama aim to please the train lovers!

Ever see something role down the tracks that makes you do a double take, and wonder what just went by? That was the case when I was able to catch these brand new, and showroom fresh engines with ‘Tren Maya’ on the sides. After doing some digging into it, these are off to a neat new home!

These seven brand new locomotives showed up on the NSINTW on a beautiful fall day. After being cut off of their train, the engines were moved over to the T Yard at Northtown Yard. This gave me the chance to get some really close ups, and discover more about what Tren Maya is. Turns out, its a brand new railroad being built which traverses the Yucatán Peninsula. The railroad is also operated by Mexican Armed Forces. I never though something like this would pop up on this part of the BNSF! As a bonus, we’ll also see the Twin Cities and Western, Northstar, Former Santa Fe Power, and the units leaving town.
