On April 27, 2011, Dixie Alley was struck by the most violent tornado outbreak in recorded history. 224 tornadoes touched down in one single day – including 11 EF4s and 4 EF5s.

Known as “The 2011 Super Outbreak”, it left entire towns leveled, hundreds of lives lost, and a lasting scar across the region.  In this video, we break down the outbreak from start to finish: the forecast& setup, the devastating tornadoes, and the aftermath that changed tornado science forever.
