I’m a proud Mexican immigrant, the second of four siblings, and a first-generation college graduate (Go Huskies!). Before becoming a children’s book author, I worked as a product marketing manager at a major tech company. Everything changed after my son had his first seizure at 11 months old.
After long nights, ambulance rides, and a diagnosis of febrile seizures, I made the life-changing decision to pause my career and become a stay-at-home mom. With the support of my husband, I knew this was the best way to care for our son, especially because his seizures often signal the first signs of illness.
Since then, I’ve written and self-published two children’s books. Ivan’s Seizure Helpers will be my first to be mass-produced—and it’s by far the scrappiest, most ambitious project I’ve taken on. I’ve been self-funding it as far as I can, but now I need your help to bring it to life. This book is powered by a lot of determination—and all the heart in the world.
Ivan’s Seizure Helpers is a bilingual (Spanish/English) children’s book that teaches seizure safety in a gentle, age-appropriate way. Using his favorite teddy bear, Ivan shares his seizure plan with his classmates so they learn how to help him safely and with kindness. This helps Ivan feel safe at school.
As of August 6th, this project has raised $10,100 of their $12,000 goal. This project has 1 days left to raise the $12,000 or it will not be funded.
