Singing Surya Dreams to Dance builds off the award-winning Dancing Deepa. It’s a little about Indian classical dance, and a lot about courage, challenging gender norms, and what it means to follow your heart.
• Do you love empowering kids? This is definitely for you.
• Do you love celebrating culture? This is definitely for you.
• Do you love stories that push back on outdated stereotypes? Also for you.
• Don’t love kids? Or culture? Or dance? This is still for you—because someone you know does.
Singing Surya Dreams to Dance is brought to you by the same team behind Dancing Deepa, author Suchi Sairam and illustrator Vidya Vasudevan (Artful Whims). The book is written, illustrated, edited, and formatted, and in the final steps prior to physical and electronic printing. All that’s left is to bring its message of joy and belonging to curious kids everywhere.
Now, I just need your help to get the word out, and get the book into libraries and schools. (Thanks to people just like you, we distributed nearly 250 copies of Dancing Deepa in 2022 – and I think we can double it this time around!)
