Produced by Special Touch Studios and co-produced by Canal+. With the support and participation of Ciné + OCS, Trace Studios, the CNC, the Sud Region, Procirep, and Angoa. TRAILER | DOCUMENTARY If there is one American filmmaker who has stirred passions for decades, it is Spike Lee. A gifted and assertive director, he allowed many African-American actors to blossom in Hollywood, at a time when most had to settle for minor and caricatured roles. Spike’s legacy extends to the four corners of the world, particularly in France, where his work contributed to the emergence of a new generation of filmmakers in a French audiovisual landscape devoid of Black authority figures.
Once ostracized for his stance, he now serves as a pioneer in a post-Black Lives Matter America, in which the demands of African Americans must be taken into account, willingly or not. A look back at the career of the greatest Black American filmmaker, the one who never abandoned his convictions, despite fame and success. Coming soon to CANAL + Produced by Sébastien Onomo. With Essimi Mevegue, Valérie Bonnet, Simon Njami, Patrick Mpondo-Dicka and Alain Gomis. Director of photography: Rishi Boodhoo Artistic director: Fabrice Nzinzi Voice-over: Thierry Desroses Original soundtrack: Nick Perrault (K.Oni).
