Welcome to the Music Thursdays segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Music Thursdays will feature music related content. Music Thursdays will feature an artist or band and their latest song and / or music video. People love music, and we here at Geek Alabama love featuring artists and bands!

Markas is a rising rap artist from Sacramento, California, whose musical journey began after discovering Mase’s iconic Harlem World album. The album’s blend of lyricism and storytelling inspired Markas to pursue his own career in music. At the age of fifteen years old, he began working on his craft and has dedicated himself to music since.

Inspired by his father’s music label in the 90s, and his grandfather’s nonprofit theater program, Markas has been surrounded by the performative arts his entire life. Seeing his family run their own successful ventures in the industry was motivation for him to take music seriously and become the lyricist he is today. Markas has a style of musical rap that sounds something like a hybrid of the witty lyrics of West Coast classics and the culture of storytelling that East Coast hip hop heavyweights hold the top ranks in.

His currently released EPs’, “Year 15” & (more recently) “Pray to Petty God” are part of a trilogy project that will close out as a full-length album that gives a snapshot of his musical abilities (during various stages of his journey). The upcoming album is sure to capture new and nostalgic listeners who appreciate the art of rap lyrics.

Markas set his sights on releasing new projects for fans everywhere to enjoy. Follow along with us on the Journey: @WatchMarkas on Social Media platforms.
