Welcome to the Trainscapes segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Trainscapes will feature train content including videos of trains and behind the scenes action of trains and locomotives. Some people have an interest in seeing trains, and we here at Geek Alabama aim to please the train lovers!

Built by the Lima Locomotive Works in September 1944, Nickel Plate Road 765 is a 2-8-4 “Berkshire” type steam engine designed to pull freight trains FAST between Chicago, Illinois and Buffalo, New York. Retired in the late 1950s, it sat in a park until the mid-70s when it was resurrected by a dedicated group of volunteers. It now operates in excursion service across the eastern United States and in 2015, we chased the engine on its annual test run from New Haven, Indiana to Leipsic, Ohio.
