Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment! Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others. The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal. Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Small homes were banned.
For decades, communities blocked the construction of small houses, fearing they’d attract people considered poor or “undesirable.” Fortunately, hearts are changing. Neighborhoods everywhere are starting to allow tiny homes and backyard cottages.
Now we need more of them. Small homes are beautiful and functional. They keep families close together. They’re wonderful as starter homes. They can be rented out to people in need. And if you’re downsizing, they let you stay in your community.
So I designed four little houses — making the plans free and open-source — so anybody can build from the blueprints. Now my work comes in a book with architectural drawings and illustrations. Want a small cottage? I made these for you.
My book contains my designs of four small cottages. With more than 70 pages of technical drawings and 3D imagery, you *could* build an entire village from this book. Or just a dream of your own.
Know how to read architectural plans? 3D renderings make the technical drawings easier to read. It’s like a Rosetta Stone for deciphering the hieroglyphics of architects.
