When most railfans think of Kansas City Southern, they think of the original mainline from Missouri to Louisiana and Texas. However, the history of KCS showcases strategic expansions and partnerships to strengthen its position in the rail industry. Throughout 2022 and the beginning of 2023, we aimed to showcase the lesser-known extremities of Kansas City Southern – documenting trains on former GM&O lines in Missouri and Mississippi during the company’s final days.
