Crowdsourcing Mornings: Magical Knights

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Magical Knights is an artbook, featuring 40 international artists, around one theme: magical girls, but with swords!  Inside the book, you will find 40 exclusive illustrations of different magical girls, and different interpretations of the theme by our artists.

As a note, we are considering “magical girl” as a gender neutral descriptor, and that everyone can be one! So there aren’t just “girls” in the book.

Magical Knights is our fifth artbook. Since our first project, we have created our own indie publishing house, Dames Prod, where the two of us, Floh and Indy, work together to edit artbooks around themes we love. We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be able to bring to life these projects, and to work with incredible artists everytime!

You might have seen our two other books funded via Kickstarter, Dames (2018),which was funded in three hours and, thanks to 1594 backers, gathered 62 836 €. The second volume, Dames, Warrior Women of Legends (2021), was funded in just 45 minutes and, with 1944 backers, gathered 107 059€.

We’ve also worked on two other artbooks, Bushidoge, a Dogs in Armor zine (2019), and Horns (2022), released through pre-orders on an online shop.

For each of our projects, we’ve released original merch too, from prints to enamel pins, and even a notebook!

We have a line up of 40 amazing artists, and we’re so honored to be featuring their work. You might recognize some of them from our previous projects, while others are new faces we’re excited to work with for the first time!

As of July 25th, this project has raised $30,000 of their $27,815 goal. This project has 21 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $9, you will get one digital book.  For a pledge of $34, you will get one printed book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dameszine/magical-knights?
