Relaunching the podcast that delves into Shakespeare character by character. Weaving together interviews with both actors and academics, Shakespeare’s Shadows deep-dives into a single Shakespeare character in each episode.
This is a podcast that celebrates how Shakespeare’s characters can be interpreted, examined, and reimagined in innumerable new ways.
It’s for people who geek out about theater and character analysis, it’s for people who want to be entertained while thinking more deeply about these plays, and it’s also a great alternative entry-point into the plays for students encountering Shakespeare (or so high school teachers and college professors tell me!).

Each episode delivers a multi-dimensional exploration of a Shakespeare character, shaped by the perspectives of actors who have walked in the shoes of these characters, along with the expertise of academics who have devoted their lives to study of these plays and Renaissance history.
Burning questions, controversial issues, the gritty realities and the occasional glamour of theater-making, academic debates, modern-day innovations, historical complexities, and the glee of getting to know these characters are all discussed.
