Crowdsourcing Mornings: PINOCCHIO – Art By Mike Mignola – Madness By Lemony Snicket

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

We’re teaming up with two of our favorite authors, Mike Mignola (creator of Hellboy) and Lemony Snicket (author of A Series of Unfortunate Events), to devise a newly illustrated, annotated and designed edition of a classic.

This is a completely original way to read PINOCCHIO. Mignola and Snicket are not merely elaborating on or presenting Carlo Collodi’s beloved novel – they’re having their own strange adventures through it, and we’re lucky enough to be invited along as their companions.

Our edition includes not only a suite of over fifty exquisite original illustrations from Mike Mignola and colorist Dave Stewart, breathing a gorgeous new life to the charm, gloom, and chaos of this classic… it also features a full text annotation by Lemony Snicket, who takes the reader along with him for his own first experience of the story in all of its bubbling stew of anarchic madness, surreal symbolism and social commentary. Snicket’s annotations are presented as removable typewritten sheets, complete with all the tell-tale revisions and ink-stains of an incipient authorial madness.

As of March 17th, this project has raised $248,000 of their $50,000 goal. This project has 34 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $25, you will get one digital edition.  For a pledge of $90, you will get an all access digital pass.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
