Important Equipment To Have In A Science Lab

Laboratories are amazing workplaces where scientists, engineers, and doctors work tirelessly to discover the truth and develop medicines and technologies to improve our daily lives. A well-stocked and -maintained laboratory makes working easier and keeps things running smoothly. Here’s some of the most important equipment to have in a science lab to make things easier.

Safety Equipment

Safety should always be a top priority for any laboratory. All laboratories should have safety goggles, gloves, and protective lab coats to protect your body. In case of an emergency, all labs should have fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash stations, and chemical showers. Having multiple first aid kits on hand will help treat any onsite injuries.

Flasks and Beakers

Vessels for storing, heating, and transporting chemicals are important pieces of equipment to have in a science lab. Beakers, volumetric flasks, test tubes, and other similar containers allow you to measure and redistribute chemicals when working carefully. It’s also a good idea to have different-size brushes to clean out your test tubes after using them and tongs that allow you to transport heated liquids without burning yourself.

Frequency Converter

A frequency converter allows workplaces to safely use equipment that may operate at different electrical frequencies than those used in your laboratory. When using electronic devices from other regions with 50 or 60 hertz, having a frequency converter allows you to change the power so that it’s all the same frequency. Because laboratories often require silence and a steady hand, many labs prefer to use a solid-state frequency converter when performing delicate experiments.

Laboratory Refrigerator

Many flammable liquids can ignite or even explode unless stored in a proper environment. It’s always a good idea to have a laboratory-specific refrigerator to keep things at a cool temperature with no chance of ignition. Many laboratory fridges contain special compressors and magnetic gaskets to ensure they stay closed and keep any chemicals inside safe and chilled.
