This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Sound travels five times faster underwater than it does in air. Anthropogenic noise (meaning noise caused by humans) has been damaging our ocean and fish communities over decades; the true implications of which we are only just uncovering now.

Follow our scientists around the world as they discover more about how fish ‘talk’; how the sounds of our oceans effect their behavior; and what it is like being in the world of ocean conservation in this anthropogenic era.

After delays due to Covid-19, National Geographic Explorer and marine biologist, Isla Davidson is finally able to travel on location to record data for her PhD. Isla represents a select number of marine scientists studying fish “talk.”

Our story follows Isla and fellow scientists throughout their research; during preparation, on location as they interact and bond with their subjects, their struggles with funding, and challenges of communicating the importance of their scientific work to the general public.

We will meet individual fish characters, learn the details of how fish communicate, and gain a new perspective of our oceans and their intrinsic connection to humanity. We will travel to the coral reefs in Kenya, Borneo and French Polynesia to uncover the effects of noise pollution on fish communities and human cultures that depend on them.

With this film we want to:
