This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Homelessness is a serious, growing social issue in America, the severity of which has been more evident in the midst of the current pandemic. The National Alliance to End Homelessness estimates that on any single night in January 2020 there were 171,575 people in families (or 55,739 family households) identified as homeless.

About Homeless Talent

Homeless Talent is a short film about homelessness as seen through the eyes of a child, the son of a young homeless musician struggling with single parenthood and stage fright, and also the story of an opportunity their lives may depend upon.

Homeless Talent might be described with references to films Pursuit of Happyness and 8 Mile:

CHRIS is a homeless black man struggling with the daily realities of living in urban America as a young single parent, most days keeping his 7-year-old son CHRIS JR. safe, fed and in a clean bed. When presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the only thing between father, son and a brighter future is stage fright so severe that only Chris Jr. has ever seen his dad’s true musical brilliance.

As of May 28th, this project has raised $6,600 of their $13,000 goal. This project has 43 days left to raise the $13,000 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $10, you will get project updates.  For a pledge of $25, you will get private access to view the film at home.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rlane/homeless-talent-a-childs-view-of-homelessness?
