Crowdsourcing Mornings: Ecotrax: The Sustainable Bouncing Marble Run

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

EcoTrax are flat-pack kits that you build yourself. Elegant mechanical contraptions, they are miracles of wooden engineering that set marbles circulating up a lift, across mini trampolines, round a spiral track and back to the lift in continual motion.

Made from sustainable materials, our marble runs are an eco-conscious alternative to the plastic-filled toy industry. An estimated 90% of all toys are plastic and – with billions of them being sold each year  – that amounts to a mountain of environmental harm. EcoTrax kits prove that you don’t have to resort to carbon-intensive plastic toys to have a whole bundle of fun. Rather than being presented with a ready-made kit you will enjoy the process of building them yourself –  and the achievement of getting the marbles successfully up and bouncing for the first time is unforgettable. Help us to encourage more creative and resource-sensitive entertainment whilst promoting awareness of the ecological issues.

We’re on a mission to green up the industry. Designed with a conscience by our team of eco-engineers, EcoTrax runs use environmentally-friendly materials wherever possible: marbles made from recycled bottles; sustainable wooden parts that are efficiently designed to squeeze as much as possible from minimal materials; recycled construction straws that expand the scope of the models without the need for extra wood… and all wrapped up in nifty recycled cardboard packaging. Pretty neat!

These EcoTrax Bouncing Ball sets are based upon a set of key components: a motorised lift to raise the marbles to the top of a tower; a controlled chute that feeds balls reliably onto a series of trampolines; a collection funnel to receive the balls at the end of their run and a gently sloping track to get the balls back to the lift.

As of August 17th, this project has raised $4,000 of their $6,543 goal. This project has 27 days left to raise the $6,543 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $27, you will get one starter pack.  For a pledge of $42, you will get the 7 trampoline and battery set.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
