Welcome to Convention Tuesdays! Every Tuesday, I will feature and highlight conventions happening during the upcoming weekend in Alabama, or within short driving distances from Alabama.

May 4 — Bash Of The Empire VII — Atlanta, Georgia

BASH OF THE EMPIRE – returns to Atlanta for a 7th year. What’s so special about this lucky is that it also lands on May the 4th (Be With You) which makes it ever more epic. Invite your friends, power up your space ships (or car), charge up your lightsabers and come help us celebrate International Star Wars Day the proper way, with hundreds of your fellow freaks and geeks as we use the power of the Force to share in an evening like no other (18+, non-smoking).

May 4-6 — WHOlanta — Atlanta, Georgia

WHOlanta is an annual Doctor Who and British media and culture convention in Atlanta, GA. Formerly known as TimeGate, WHOlanta is the rebranded name of the convention that fans in the Atlanta area have loved for over ten years.

WHOlanta is run by fans FOR FANS. The convention does not profit from sales. Any money you pay for attending the convention goes into making the convention the best it can be. It goes towards paying for the venue, paying for the visual/sound equipment, and for paying our guests. Doctor Who actors aren’t free. And flights from the U.K. can get pricey. So know when you buy your membership, your membership is being used to better your experience at the con.

Major guests include Louise Jameson, Robin Burks, and more.  Learn more at: https://wholanta.com/

May 5 — Chattanooga Zine Fest — Chattanooga, Tennessee

In May 2018, the 4th Floor of the Chattanooga Public Library will host the third annual Chattanooga Zine Fest, a festival of independently produced books and magazines.  We aim to feature a wide range of independent zine makers. Experienced and novice self-publishers are welcome.
