See Pictures And A Video From The Arc Of Calhoun County Open House

If you know me for a long time, you know that I have a mental disability which is Asperger’s Syndrome (Autism).  Currently, I am living off SSI Disability along with food stamps, and I am glad it is there.  Because without it, I would be homeless.  But, sitting here at home everyday with nothing to do can get boring.  Combined with the over 1,800 rejections from jobs and opportunities since August 2011, along with the threats from the federal government that food stamps and maybe SSI could be dramatically cut back, it is becoming more likely the only way I can find a job anywhere is that an organization places me in a job somewhere.  I mean, not even a visual resume with over 23,000 has done the trick.

A local organization called The Arc of Calhoun and Cleburne Counties held an open house recently and I thought it would be worth checking it out since I live very close to the office and I could walk to it.  At the open house they revealed that they won the Standards of Excellence Accreditation.  Only less than 30 non-profit organizations have received this award.

The picture I took was a little blurry, you can see the award better below with a video from TV 24 below.

While I was there, I also took photos of the art the special needs students made in their art room.  Pretty great work!

Anyways, I will see what will happen with The Arc.  Maybe someone reading this post that is from the organization will contact me.  It really does not make sense to be still unemployed while building something where I do great social media networking, have an extremely popular blog in the southeast, and do great work in photography and videography.  Let’s hope something happens!
