Help Out During The 2015 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Advertisements

Each year, the letter carriers of the United States Postal Service does a very good deed!  Along with delivering the mail, they will also pick up canned goods and give them to local food banks to feed the needy.  2015 is the 23rd annual National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive.  Most of us should have gotten a bag to leave any food donations in them.  All you do is fill the bag with non-persishable food items, and leave them by your mailbox on Saturday.  The letter carrier will pick up the food items, and the local post office will make sure the food goes to area food banks.

If you think this is something you should skip, here is something to think about.  According to Feeding America, nearly 1 in 5 Alabama residents face food insecurity, including 298,960 children.  Stamp Out Hunger is the opportune time for the public to support neighbors who struggle with hunger.  Last year, the Postal Service collected over 70 million pounds of food in one day!  Let’s make sure they collect a lot more this year!
