Check Out The First Solar Bike Lane In Europe

The Netherlands just got 20% cooler!  A 100 meter bike path in Amsterdam opened this week.  But this bike path is not asphalt or concrete, this bike path is solar panels.

The solar bike path comprises of concrete modules with solar cells laid under a glass top in one direction.  In the other direction, different kinds of top layers have been added.  Here is a video talking about this special thing!

The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research constructed the solar bike path for around $4.4 million US dollars.  And it could potentially produce enough electricity to power three houses.  Of course, this is not the only solar thing happening in our roads.  Solar Roadways is also planning to open up a solar parking lot in Spring 2015.  Solar panels is the future of roads!
