Getting My Computer Running Again

Advertisements

As some of you have known, the last few weeks have been tough on the computer front!  My computer’s hard drive crashed and I had to replace it.  All of my important files were backed up so I did not have to worry about the files on the bad hard drive.  Taking off and un-screwing the back was easy to do!  I took off the cover from the old hard drive and put it on the new hard drive.

After I put on the back cover and screwed it in.  I put in the battery and started the computer.  I used a Windows 7 disk to install Windows 7 onto the new hard drive.

You would think it was over but it was not.  After I installed Windows 7, things worked perfectly.  Then after I rebooted my computer, the computer would not start.  I got a message saying “insert boot disk.”

So for a few days I deleted everything on the hard drive and re-installed Windows 7 only to see the “insert boot disk” message again.  After playing for a while I found a trick to make my computer start each time.  When you start your computer, hit the F2 key to get to the BIOS menu.  Then exit, my computer restarts and boots correctly every time!

Hooray!  I can use my computer again!  But I did one more thing.  The rubber things on the bottom of my computer to keep the air flowing were worn out.

I got some modeling clay and made some pieces to glue onto the bottom.  After baking I glued them onto the bottom of my computer.

This was done because you need to provide airflow into your computer so it will not get too hot and freeze.  Hopefully this will be the last of my computer troubles for a while!  I would  like to job search and write posts for Geek Alabama!
