The Hat Trick Of Government Corruption Is Now Complete In Alabama

Ah, today was yet another horrible and embarrassing black eye in the history of the Alabama government.  Ever since the state of Alabama became a state in 1819, and especially since the adoption of the constitution of 1901, the longest and most corrupt constitution in the world, Alabama has seen it’s share of politicians of both parties and from all branches of government get charged and convicted of corruption charges, or resign before they go to jail, the easy way out.

Today, Robert Bentley took the easy way out and resigned his governor post.  Before he resigned, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges.  Sure, he will have to pay back his campaign funds, pay some fines, forgive his retirement money which is a HUGE blow, and serve some community service, but Robert Bentley took the easy way out.  He should have spent some time in our beautiful and well run state prison system.  I’m being sarcastic there, our state prisons are horrible!

He even had the guts to “thank” the people for being their leader of the state.  Glad you are outta here Bentley!

In the past year, the leaders of all three branches of state government have been removed from office.  It’s the hat trick of government corruption!  Some legislators were saying states like New York and New Jersey have had corruption governors removed before.  Yes, most states have had to remove a corrupt leader before, not every person is clean as they say when they were running for office.  But never before the speaker of the state house, the chief justice of the state supreme court, and the governor have all been removed because of corruption, in the same term, and all within a one year period.  It has never happened before in any state!

I’m sitting here watching the local news and I hear state leaders say things like “the future is bright in Alabama”, or “the worst is behind us.”  And I think to myself, what a horrible thing to say!  We continue to have leaders in our state government be corrupt or do things based on how much money they receive.  It was a big problem when the Democrats were in power in Montgomery, and now it’s a big problem with the Republicans in power now.  But hey, quit blaming the legislators, judges, and government officials for the problems in Montgomery, we need to start blaming ourselves.

Most people in Alabama will either vote via party lines or vote for the person who says they are for “family values”, or say they are a good “Christian person”, or say they will keep “government small” and “keep taxes low.”  You know what I mean, we see these people in every election cycle.  And these people who say these things are mostly the ones who always gets in trouble with the law and become corrupt inside state government.  Until we QUIT voting for these idiots, the cycle of corruption and wrongdoing will continue!  We can’t continue to keep voting for Darth Vader, right?

We can’t keep saying “thank God for Mississippi” anymore!  Alabama has the third highest unemployment rate in America.  We have a state prison system that is in shambles.  We have a Medicaid crisis where people can’t afford to see a doctor.  We have infrastructure that is crumbling with no funds to fix it.  We have schools that are rapidly declining with horrible math and reading scores.  We have hardly any mental health services or a good court system.  I can go on and on with the problems Alabama is facing, it’s not good!

Every year something stupid comes into the news from Montgomery, from the Luv Gov, to HB 56 which scared many people, to a current bill that would install “ransomware” onto all phones and computers to stop porn (who comes up with these things?)  The people in Montgomery continue to propose and pass stupid things that causes Alabama to be embarrassed in the worldwide media yet again, or yet another government official becomes corrupt, or we have to spend taxpayer money defending bills that are unconstitutional,  it’s a neverending cycle that seems like it never wants to end!  It’s like our leaders in Montgomery has money to burn baby!

How about doing something different for a change?  How about reforming our archaic 1901 tax structure?  How about maybe raising the property taxes from being dead last in America so we can properly fund education?  Yes, that means quit listening to those so called lobbyists from ALFA Insurance and Alabama Power.  How about allowing us to vote on a statewide lottery so we can quit seeing millions leave the state?  Yes, that means quit listening to the Business Council of Alabama for a change.  How about requiring insurance companies to pay for Autism therapy like 46 other states already do?  Yes, that means kicking the bums from Blue Cross / Blue Shield out of the state house.  I can go on and on about things to improve Alabama!

And how about something radical, like making marijuana legal?  Yet, you clowns in Montgomery will continue to listen to those churches who those attending have to listen to politics instead of preaching from the Bible.  Alabama will continue this cycle of being dead last in everything, having multiple government officials being corrupt, and being embarrassed almost every day in the national and worldwide media.  This has to stop, and soon!  We are now in a worldwide economy, and everyday this continues, Alabama loses!  It’s like Willy Wonka telling us “You Lose” every single day!

If you people living in Alabama wants to change this, there is only one thing to do, vote for someone else!  Vote for the person in the other party you don’t like, vote against the person who praises “family values”, or is a so-called “True Christian.”  Don’t believe the person who says they are for “small government” and “lower taxes.”  Those sayings means people are harmed and we have to rely on the federal government for funding.  I wonder how long that lasts with Trump in the White House?

Until we do that, we will continue to see self-centered, racist, greedy, corrupt, selfish, and bigot government leaders.  And in our world today, having people like that serving in our government means we lose!  I want to win!  We can’t keep welcoming people to Sweet Home Alabama for much longer if we stay corrupt and stupid!

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, The Alabama Second Special Session Will Be Nuts

Picture1wregferw

Right now as I am writing this, the legislatures clowns down in Montgomery are already back in a second special session.  Tonight is pretty much a come together, because starting tomorrow, the fireworks really begin!  Already, the fireworks have begun on social media with the hashtag #alpolitics.  I mean, the war of tweets between the two political sides are a hoot to watch!  Here are a few examples!

Let me add in my two cents to the Alabama political debate!

So, what will happen in this second special session?  I mean, there are already some major things happening with our political leaders in The Gump.  For starters, Governor Bentley is now dealing with a divorce of his wife, who have been married for over 50 years.  One website has reported the reason for the divorce is because of having a extramarital affair with a former communications director.  While I am not here saying that is the case, one thing really needs to happen here.  Governor Bentley needs to come clean!

What happened Mr. Bentley?  Did you misuse state taxpayers funds?  Did you have an affair?  Did you do something else that would break the law?  Sir, if you did something incredibly stupid, do the most honest thing you can do and resign!  But, I am sure you don’t have plans to do that.  Heck, if the Speaker of the House didn’t step down when he was indicted on those felony corruption charges, you are going to do the same thing most other politicians here in Alabama does when they get into trouble, hold onto power for as long as you can before you are handcuffed and forced out of office.  Is that right?

Other than the corrupt politicians down there, we also have some politicians who thinks having hardly any government at all is the right thing in Alabama.  Sure, let’s keep on cutting until the feds comes in and takes over!  Is that the ultimate plan Republicans?  Today, one of those keep cutting Rhinos named Sen. Phil Williams from Rainbow City wrote an op-ed to several news outlets in Alabama.  He actually compared the current General Fund crisis to the classic Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist.  He is comparing the state government to the scene where the boy holds up the bowl and says “Please sir, may I have some more?”

So it looks like Sen. Williams and others are wanting to raid the Education Trust Fund to bail out the General Fund.  That is the only thing the rhinos down in Montgomery are wanting to do, raid other sources of revenue to bail out trouble, instead of doing the thing that will ultimately must be done, reform and raise some taxes in Alabama.  I’m sorry Mr. Williams, but having a $400 million surplus by the end of fiscal year 2016 for the Education Trust Fund is wonderful news!  The trust fund has seen the second highest amount of cuts in the nation since 2008.  And many school systems are dealing with shortfalls, and are asking students to bring in simple things like toilet paper.  Something you should never have to ask students to bring in.

So, is the plan by the clowns down in Montgomery raid the Education Trust Fund, forcing it into proration, and causing more teachers to leave Alabama, and more schools to suffer in education quality?  I hope not!  The Legislature will not care about this. There is a complete lack of support for public education in Montgomery. Our schools rank some of the worst in America, and who cares, let’s just cut education past the bone!  And if you don’t believe me about the cuts to schools, take a look at this graph below.  And tell me again if you support more education cuts in Alabama again?

9-12-13sfp-f1-infocus2

At least not everyone in the state supports massive cuts to state government that would cause massive trouble inside Alabama.  A new group called Stand Tall Alabama got more than 200 Alabama groups, churches, health centers, hospitals, clinics, and organizations to tell members of the Alabama Legislature to STAND TALL and fully fund vital services that affect you and every Alabamian.  Here is that letter being sent to everyone in the legislature!

Dear Legislators:

Alabama is at a crossroads. The path you choose could define our state for a generation. As you consider the General Fund budget in a second special session, we, the undersigned organizations, urge you to stand tall and choose a path that will make Alabama stronger. We need $300 million in new revenue to protect vital services we all rely on, especially our children, seniors and most vulnerable neighbors. A strong budget also will let the state move forward on sensible and widely popular reforms.

Our tax dollars support the daily upkeep of our common good. Important services like Medicaid, mental health care and public safety make Alabama a better place for all of us to live and work. In recent years, these services have been cut to the bone. Further cuts will set our state’s health system and economy on a dangerous course. Hospitals in many rural areas will be forced to close their doors. Across the state, mental health patients and their families will have nowhere to turn. Thousands of working mothers will lose safe child care. Highways will become more dangerous as state troopers lose their jobs. Court layoffs will slow the legal process. Every Alabama community will see its quality of life decline.

A budget is more than a balance sheet. It’s a statement of our values. We can’t balance the budget on the backs of “the least of these.” Lives and livelihoods are at stake. We need a budget that makes Alabama stronger, not weaker.

Stop the cuts, approve $300 million in new General Fund tax revenue and stand tall for Alabama’s future.

If you want to see every person, business, or ogranization that has signed the letter, go to: http://www.standtallalabama.com/groups-tell-legislature.  You might want to include Geek Alabama on this list, because major cuts to the General Fund would be bad for Alabama!

One more thing the clowns down in Montgomery and the rhinos across Alabama needs to see!  Here is what would be closed down or affected from the Alabama Political Reporter.  Let’s hope it does not come down to this, or be even worse than this list below.  Man Alabama needs a major wake up call!

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will: close all driver license offices except Mobile, Montgomery, Birmingham and Huntsville, close 13 Trooper posts, shut down the Agriculture and Rural Crime Unit, layoff Aviation staff and Fleet Management Staff, layoff 1/3 of all non-sworn personnel, layoff 75 of 431 Highway Patrol Troopers, layoff 30 of 147 Special Agents, and layoff 8 of 31 Capitol Police Troopers.

The Alabama Department of Public Health will: close the Coosa County Health Department, reduce Licensures and Certifications, eliminate nicotine patch purchases, reduce disease control staff, reduce staff for restaurant health inspections, and reduce area and state support staff.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will: have some layoffs, lose Federal Funds for Marine Resources and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries and close facilities including: several State Parks, Lands Division facilities, and Wildlife facilities. The size and scope is yet to be determined but the figure of 15 State parks has been used.

The Department of Forensic Sciences will close the Huntsville Morgue and eliminate fire debris (arson) analysis.

The Department of Youth Services will: lose diversion grants, layoff personnel and close detention facilities, and the juvenile commitment backlog will likely increase.

The Department of Agriculture and Industries will likely: close two diagnostic labs that test dead farm animals for diseases and the seed lab.

The Department of Senior Services is expected to lose $2.55 million in federal funds because the state won’t have the funds to provide matching dollars. Federal Funding is 69 percent of their funding versus 31 percent from the state. This could lead to an expanded waiting list beyond the current referral list of 7,100+ and increased costs by diverting clients from Medicaid Waiver program ($838 monthly) back into costly intuitional care ($5,900 monthly).

The Environmental Management Agency (ADEM) will have less money for inspections so the Bentley administration claim there could be an: increase in abandoned waste landfills and tire dump sites, an increase in illegal dumps, and deferred or eliminated cleanup of petroleum releases into soil and groundwater.

The Department of Commerce will eliminate project recruitment efforts.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) is threatening to: eliminate the Alabama Rural Development Office, eliminate the Small Business Office, eliminate the Appalachian Regional Commission and warns that there will be a loss of federal funds for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG).

The Military Department warns that they may have to close up to 11 Armories (13 percent of Armories) in the State.

The Department of Labor will layoff two of seven positions (leaving only five employees in Mine Safety Division). This will lead to reduced and delayed mine safety inspections and the elimination of the training contract with Bevill State College for mine rescue teams.

Medicaid will have to make cuts to medical services for the poor and nursing home services for the elderly.

Five Preschool Shows The People In The Alabama Legislature Should Watch

Picture1wtfwe

Congrats Alabama Legislature!  You are wrapping up a special session, and did almost nothing!  Nope, you either sat on your butts, whined, argued, or never compromised.  And the results, no General Fund budget, no lottery bill, no revenue bills, and nothing passed except for a few local bills.  But hey, you can go back to your district and tell everyone that you did not raise taxes.  Who cares about what harm that would cause in this state, people hate government!

So in this post, I am going to encourage our legislators to sit down, cool off, and learn a few things they apparently forgot while they were little kids.  Things like sharing, making friends, compromising, not stealing, and doing the right thing, are things you should have learned while in preschool!  Sadly, those lessons somehow have left their brains, and they need to put back in their brains.  I want you legislators to sit down and watch a few episodes of these five preschool shows below before you go back to your second special session.  Wasting taxpayer money on nothing is not fun!

Peg + Cat

wttw_1380144272

Why this show?  It teaches you a lot about math, and how numbers add up the right way!  You legislators have problems with adding up numbers, I see this in the news all the time!  Who cares if the numbers are wrong, or these numbers would result in people being harmed, let’s just pass it and go home.  You need a few lessons in math, and understanding that low numbers means you need to add new numbers, or new revenue sources!

Jake and the Neverland Pirates

download

Why this show?  Well other than the good lessons, it’s based in the Peter Pan world.  You know, pirates stealing everything, kind of like what you are doing legislature!  You need to understand this clowns down in Montgomery, stealing from the poor while the rich barely pays anything does not work!  And you need to understand basic tax and money structure, a show like this should be required watching!

Dora the Explorer

doraworld

Why this show?  Well you learn a lot about picking things out, but the other good part is you learn about different cultures and things.  Alabama has had a major problem with other cultures, from blacks being beaten, to passing a bill harming Latinos.  Watching a show like Dora will show you that people of different cultures and beliefs are not evil people.  And why not mix things up, and quit screwing the poor and vulnerable for a change?

Barney and Friends

wttw_1339772151

Why this show?  Boy do you people down in the state house need to watch this one!  Apparently you have problems with sharing, agreeing on things, or even compromising on bills.  A show like Barney will show you why it’s important to share, why it’s important to agree with others, and why it’s so important to compromise, even if you don’t like some things.  See, sharing and caring can be cool!

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

My-Little-Pony-Friendship-is-Magic-my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-32310685-1600-1000

Why this Show?  Well many kids and adults watch this show!  And this show has plenty of lessons you people in Montgomery needs to learn about!  Being friends with others is a good thing, even if your friends are in a different party, or have different beliefs!  You all have problems down there being friends, or if you are friends, sorting out differences!  Yep, you all down in the state house needs to watch this show!

So clowns in Montgomery?  What is it going to take to get you all to quit standing on your high horse and do something for the good of Alabama?  If this does not work, we are doomed!  Or the people are doomed because most of us elected these weirdos in the first place!

Yes, There Is A GoFundMe Page To Solve The Alabama General Fund Crisis

Picture1rgwe

Yes, Alabama State Senator Paul Sanford has set up a GoFundMe page as a way to help solve Alabama’s General Fund crisis.  The goal is only a short $300 million, and as of this writing, only around $500 has been raised.  This is what Sen. Sanford said on the GoFundMe page.

The State of Alabama is experiencing tight financial times and needs your help. Legislators are debating possible financial solutions but are finding that Raising Taxes are not wanted by the citizens of Alabama. Rather than have the Government come after your hard earned money you can now send an amount that fits your budget, even request where your money be used.

You can determine what functions of Government are a priority to you.

The amount raised so far has not been the most interesting part about this GoFundMe page.  It has been the comments people have left on this page, and some of the comments are funny!  I think people have come to realize that our legislative process in Alabama is a very bad joke.  And they are getting tired of the clowns down in Montgomery not doing the right things to fix this problem.  Here are some of the comments I have enjoyed!  If you want to donate or leave a comment, go to:  http://www.gofundme.com/sjnad935

Don’t like seeing your state government begging for money on a site created for people in real need? Next year, vote Democratic.

I’m fact, raise my property taxes. You could double it, and we still would be the lowest in the country. Just do anything else but cut funding for the poor, old, and education. Seems an easy request.

I can’t believe people are actually donating to these crooks. It’s not our fault as tax payers that the state government can’t mange it’s money. Maybe you should get with the times and stop living in the fairytale bible belt and legalize/tax marijuana and pass the lottery . Instead you want more money from tax payers. Pleeeaasseee. Smfh.

This is pathetic. Raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and more tax dollars will roll in to the coffers.

This is why Alabama is considered a joke. Stop making us look bad.

Lets see, the reason that we have a budget crisis is because our legislators have not done there jobs. There are many revenue streams that could solved the current budget crisis, but Jesus wouldn’t like it. Apparently, all legislators gain the ability to read Jeusus’ mind. No matter what you “were trying to prove” this is low class and unbefitting a me.mber of the Alabama legislature

I’d rather you just raise my taxes…. and quit giving tax breaks to new businesses coming to Alabama.

Mr. Sanford, I doubt that half the citizens of this state or the rest of the country will get your “point” … This is a badly conceived idea and would probably look better for you to take this down before it makes the national media. Alabama does not need this to add to our reputation as one of the worst states in the Union in which to live or make any kind of progress.

Sanford is some kind of clown who thinks it’s funny that he and others in Montgomery are too inept to do their jobs.

Pathetic to say the least. Give more tax breaks to corporations that send our jobs over seas. Good to see you are striving for a 3rd world country economy.

I would donate the money I saved up over the last year for (fun money) but I spent it last month in Mississippi at the casino.. Sorry it couldn’t stay in Alabama..

This is the 7th special session in 10 years at a cost of $400,000 per session. A super majority Republican State legislature and State Senate have accomplished very little this past session, but found time to name a crustacean and dessert. It is time to end this do nothing monoloply and elect candidates from the Constitution Party. The democrats started this reckless spending and the republicans are just continuing the tradition.

I trust you to transfer my donation to the ETF. Perhaps if the Timber industry in our state (most who don’t live in AL)were asked to pay equivalent taxes as other states, you would have a good chunk of the needed $300 mil by the next day.

it’s more than obvious that you have a revenue problem. it’s even more obvious that you lack the gravitas to suggest raising taxes. i suggest that you grab a KFC bucket and find a busy highway offramp. you’ll have better luck there.

If Alabama had the lottery or legalized marijuana maybe the state would not have money problems. I know they take plenty out of my husband’s and I paycheck every week.

I am grateful to live in the great blue state of California where our Democratic legislators and governor know how to govern. California has a surplus; we are thriving. Nobody likes taxes but they are a necessity of government. Republicans slash taxes for the rich leaving huge deficits, slashing basic services like education.

So disappointed seeing things like a lottery, legalized marijuana, and a cigarette tax ruled out and then begging its citizens (whom already pay taxes) to fund the Alabama state government. Please take this as a notice on who you’ll vote for in the next state election.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put the current tax code in the trash!! It is a 19th century antique which so clearly does NOT work in a 21st century world. DItto the state constitution. Both of these are holding ALL of us back. The tax code doesn’t adequately fund ANYTHING. Our current situation is PROOF that the taxes we are paying are far too low since NO PART of state and local functions have adequate funding – not the schools, not the roads, not even our first responders. If we want the federal government out of state affairs we need to pull up our big boy pants and pay for things ourselves. Budgets have already been cut to the breaking point. Its time for everyone to put more money into the budget through taxes. Its a simple fact you don’t get what you don’t pay for!

WOW! My 8 year old can budget better than you people in office! This state needs the lottery for the extra funding to schools, medicare etc. It’s not rocket science!!! Thanks for making Alabama look Stupid Idiot!!!!!

LOL!! Someone please tell me this is some sort of cruel joke? And we wonder why the rest of the world thinks we are all idiots

The Alabama Legislature Wants To Solve The Budget Crisis With An Sex Tax

Picture1wsfwef

As we all know, the Alabama Legislature is currently meeting down in Montgomery and coming up with several ways to screw most of its citizens.  One of the ideas being floated around by Rep. Jack Williams is a very weird one!  His bill would tax any sexually oriented materials with a 40% sales tax.  That would be on top of the sales taxes already in place.  So here in Anniston for example, a purchase of a Playboy Magazine would mean a 50% sales tax!  So what would qualify as sexually oriented materials you ask?

The new tax would apply to any book, magazine, newspaper, printed or written matter, writing, description, picture, drawing, animation, photograph, motion picture, film, video tape, pictorial presentation, depiction, image, electrical or electronic reproduction, broadcast, transmission, video download, telephone communication, sound recording, article, device, equipment, matter, oral communication, depicting breast or genital nudity, or sexual conduct.  The tax would also apply to anything only adults could buy, like violent video games for example!  So want to buy an adult game like Call of Duty, be prepared to pay up to a 50% sales tax if this bill passes.

The 40 percent tax would not apply to movies in a movie theater with an “R” or “NC-17” rating.  But, anything else only available to people over 18 years old would most likely have the 40% special tax applied to it.  And for us in the geek and nerd world, this could be a disaster!  Many of us love getting things that only people over 18 years old can get, like video games for example.  So, if this 40 percent tax passes, if I wanted to get a violent video game that has become very popular, I and many others would simply drive to a neighboring state to purchase it!  I mean, going to buy a $50 violent video game with this new tax would mean an extra $25 in taxes!

I could go to Georgia, get the game, and at the same time get groceries and other things and come back to Alabama.  And who cares about that “Use Tax” form you have to fill out when you make purchases out-of-state when you do your state taxes, I will just ignore it!  So I think this “Sin Tax” idea is a way too stupid idea!  I guess we are seeing the true colors of the clowns down in Montgomery, I guess most of them hate the geeks and nerds.  I wonder if they hate Huntsville too, which is full of geeks and nerds?  If they do, Huntsville should break away from Alabama and become its own state or join Tennessee.  Hey, Huntsville has been already screwed by the bozos in Montgomery before!
