Hello Mr. Young, My name is Gloria Garcia, I am doing a project in English 3 AP at Alvin High School, (located in Alvin, Texas) with a partner named, Van Keyes. This project is a team socratic and we are discussing the topic of dodgeball and whether or not it should be banned in school, we are trying to find out more information that was not regarded in your article, we hope you see this and take time to acknowledge our requests. Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Van Keyes and Gloria Garcia
Hello, thanks for contacting! I wrote my dodgeball article because I hated played the game while I was in school, and I was never good at the game and was often an early target. Anyways, I found one article relating to the Louisiana BOE turning down a request to ban dodgeball. I think the game has two sides mostly based on a person’s political views. Those on the right view dodgeball as a good game as it builds character and these people see nothing wrong with the game and say those who want to ban it are snowflakes who wants to be in their safe spaces.
Those on the left view dodgeball as a game where it targets certain people and can cause injuries and would say there are plenty of other sports a student can play in PE class. If some want to play dodgeball, then go right ahead, but don’t force all students to play even if they don’t want too. I would also read the comments on the article. https://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/04/21/they-wanted-to-ban-dodgeball-in-public-schools-but-state-officials-knock-that-idea-right-down
I am going to link another about dodgeball that I found interesting.
