I know of someone who is wanting to launch their own podcast. This podcast will feature multiple people sitting at a table talking about politics. This person asked me what equipment you would need to launch the podcast. So, here is the list, everything comes off of Amazon.
Microphones
You would need microphones. The good news is microphones are not very expensive on Amazon. The microphones would need an XLR connection on them to connect to the mixer. Since this podcast will be recorded at a table, a tabletop microphone would work just fine. I would recommend the FIFINE USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone, each one is $54.99.
After getting the microphones, you would need to get XLR cables to attach the microphones to the mixer. Those are cheap on Amazon. A two-pack is $17.99.
Podcast Recorder Mixer
To do a podcast, you must have a recorder. There are many to choose from, and they can run for hundreds of dollars! A simple, low-cost one is the Zoom PodTrak P4 Podcast Recorder. You hook the XLR cables from the microphones into this device, then run a USB cable to a laptop for recording.
Camera
Every podcast must also have a video version to post onto YouTube. There are many cameras you can choose from. You need an camera that would use a USB cable to run from the camera to the laptop. The camera also must be on a tripod since we will record everyone at a table. A camera to recommend would be the EMEET S600 4K Webcam with Tripod for Streaming.
Lighting
You also need background lighting to make the video version of the podcast much better. Stuff like this is very cheap on Amazon. I would recommend the 2-Pack LED Video Light Kit, NiceVeedi Studio Light.
Laptop for Recording
You would need a laptop to record the audio and video for the podcast. It cannot be a cheap laptop since it needs good processing. This HP Ultrabook 15.6″ Laptop, 16GB RAM, 1.1TB would work just fine.
