Piggy Tales, The Amazing Journey to Apricot Farm: A Tale of Friendship and Acceptance.
It’s been a decade-long journey to craft a story of an extraordinary adventure. A journey that goes beyond the pages and words and jumps into the heart of self-discovery and friendship.
Before we tell you more about the book itself. Let’s rewind the clock and travel back to 2014 or perhaps even long before that.
It started with a little spark of an idea about a tiny lost pig, fueled by the treasured memories of bedtime tales shared with parents.
This wasn’t a solitary pursuit; a collaborative effort between a mother and her son, echoing the spirit of the cherished childhood adventures that shaped them.
As Gillian and Ryan Butler delved into countless stories over the years, they discovered that the magic of storytelling is a timeless bridge that spans generations.
Still, in this fast-paced, digital world, the significance of physical children’s books goes on. There’s a simple joy in turning the pages, a unique and cherished experience that offers a precious opportunity to disconnect from screens and immerse ourselves in the tangible magic of a book. It’s an invitation to rediscover the joy of storytelling with your family, to embrace the magic words that unfold on the printed page.
However, a children’s story is incomplete without vibrant illustrations. After a quest that saw four different illustrators, The incredible talent of Priscilla Hocking was discovered (thanks for the introduction Sarah) an outstanding illustrator from Australia. Through her artistry, the words came to life, and our protagonist, Peewee, the micro pig, found his identity on the pages of the book.
Peewee’s tale is one of self-discovery and acceptance. With no tail, he feels incomplete and ashamed, believing that finding it will stop him from getting teased. Little does he know that his unique journey will lead him to a diverse cast of characters, each imperfect in their own way, yet forming an unbreakable friendship.
Our story is not just about finding a missing tail but discovering that true completeness comes from embracing our differences. It’s a narrative that showcases the power of words, both hurtful and healing, and the transformative magic of genuine connections.
Now, after a decade of dedication, The Amazing Journey to Apricot Farm is ready to come to life. We stand on the edge of publishing, and to make this dream a reality, we need your support. We are seeking £3,200 to cover printing costs and postage, to press the first batch of books and share Peewee’s inspiring tale with the world. We hope that it reaches many home and schools along the way.
By joining us on this Kickstarter journey, you’re not only pre-buying your copy but becoming an integral part of the process. Together, we can bring Peewee’s adventure to children and adults all around, spreading the invaluable lessons of acceptance, friendship, and self-discovery. Thank you!
