Crowdsourcing Mornings: The No Bullies Allowed Club

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

If you consider yourself a bully or exhibit any type of bully behavior then this campaign is NOT meant for you, because we have a strict policy of NO BULLIES ALLOWED!

Melissa Douglas and The No Bullies Allowed Club is a story that revolves around a 6th grader (Melissa Douglas), who is smart, funny, and witty, but just like any other kid, she deals with some challenges and insecurities. If the thought of the first day of middle school wasn’t already stressful enough for her, she also has to deal with her pesky little brother, a mom that treats her like she’s still a little baby.  If it couldn’t get any worse, her whole world turns upside down once she gets into an altercation with two of the scariest bullies in the entire middle school.

I wanted to write a story based on a topic that a lot of kids could relate to.  This is why I choose the topic of bullying.  I want young readers to follow Melissa and watch her experience the struggles of bullying by seeing her go through various emotions such as sorrow, sadness, embarrassment, and doubt. Then at the same time watch her overcome them.

Now I want to be clear, this isn’t a story of despair but more so a story of bravery, courage, and resilience. Readers will be able to see Melissa overcome adversity and turn her struggles into victories.

The GOAL is to help kids build the following attributes below from the entertainment of reading this book.

  • Self-Confidence
  • The ability to stand up for oneself
  • Be Fearless
  • Take a stand

Bullying remains a huge issue for all school-aged kids.

My goal is to introduce Melissa Douglas and her No Bullies Club  to all middle school readers around the world. I want them to see how Melissa builds confidence within herself to do things she never thought she could do in conquering her goals.

It is important that this book’s quality is up to the standards of big-name books that we see in big retail chains so that schools and libraries will add Melissa Douglas to their shelves.

I’ve already successfully published two children’s picture books, and I know what it takes to bring a book to market.

As of September 14th, this project has raised $2,200 of their $8,500 goal. This project has 28 days left to raise the $8,500 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $15, you will get one eBook.  For a pledge of $25, you will get one paperback book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/970141395/the-no-bullies-allowed-club?
