Crowdsourcing Mornings: The Very Airy Library | Season 2

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Nowadays, most kids don’t know what an author is, let alone dream that they could ever become one.

However, The Very Airy Library is hoping to change that. We are an independent children’s show dedicated to instilling a passion for reading and writing in a diverse community of young people. Most importantly, we want to give kids a new dream to pursue – one that can literally take them anywhere.

Whether it’s a student that has just written their very first book or a professional author that has just finished their 20th, we want children to see their dreams represented on screen. In fact, we take a lot of care to ensure our guests come from all walks of life and represent a diverse array of backgrounds.

Seeing someone that looks just like them accomplishing something extraordinary can have a dramatic impact on a child’s life. Not only does it show them that it’s possible to achieve their own dreams, but it gives them real, specific goals to pursue along the way.

The Very Airy Library is currently distributing content free of charge via YouTube. Unfortunately, the ad revenue for children’s content is virtually non-existent. Consequently, the show lacks any dependable source of revenue. That’s where you come in! The money you give will go directly toward helping the show spread a love of literacy around the world!

  •  Guest Author Accommodations: Guests onThe Very Airy Library volunteer their time and talents to come on the show. Obviously, we want them to have a first-class experience! This includes handling travel and hotel accommodations for out-of-state authors.
  •  Cast and Crew: Hundreds of hours go into producing this show, and our cast and crew are dedicated to providing an A+ product. These awesome people volunteered their time and talents in the first season, but it’s time for them to make a livable wage. That’s why a portion of these funds will be used to compensate these talented folks for their efforts.
  •  Spreading the Word: In order for the show to have the maximum impact, we need to spread the word! That means utilizing various marketing and public relations tools, all of which cost money. Therefore, a portion of the funds will cover costs associated with promoting the show to new potential viewers.
  •  Kickstarter/Rewards: Did you know that even running a Kickstarter comes with expenses? It’s true! So some of the donated funds will go to cover the cost of producing rewards, processing payments, and giving Kickstarter their cut.

As of September 7th, this project has raised $27,300 of their $30,000 goal. This project has 6 days left to raise the $30,000 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $10, you will get your name on their website.  For a pledge of $25, you will get a keychain.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theveryairylibrary/the-very-airy-library-season-2?
