Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

This Kickstarter has been launched to raise “Finishing Funds” for SPIRAL – a unique film that will shine a bright light on the perils of undiagnosed mental illness. Two-time Academy Award winning director Bill Guttentag, actress Michelle Trachtenberg, and award-winning producer Jennifer Hutchins have joined forces with Randall White to tell a story that is both powerful and real.

They have been joined in this effort by – among others – Grammy winning composer David Kahne, and three-time Oscar-nominated sound mixer Steve Boeddeker.

Says Bill Guttentag: “SPIRAL will cause people to look anew at a widespread, under-reported, and significant social and health issue. With your help, this film will be completed and released very soon. We believe it truly can and will make a difference.”

As of January 5th, this project has raised $22,000 of their $24,500 goal. This project has 9 days left to raise the $24,500 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $6, you will get project updates.  For a pledge of $15, you will get a digital screening of the film.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/127875932/spiral-a-familys-battle-with-undiagnosed-mental-illness?
