Crowdsourcing Mornings: Route 66 The Mother Road, Sid Sackson; America’s Main Street

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

This Kickstarter allows you to Get Your Kicks on Route 66 — well, your gaming kicks anyway. We are premiering two new Route 66-themed titles — The Mother Road; and America’s Main Street (the latter title consists of two new games in one box). We are also bundling these three new games with two small-box party games, Sixes and Dead Man’s Chest, which pair well with the light-hearted nature of the featured games. We are also adding Sid Sackson’s The Great Races (1974), an early roll and write, to several of the pledge levels — for FREE.

You can take all six of these easily-portable games on your next road trip or simply enjoy playing them at your next game night or family gathering. All the games we are offering have short, fast to explain rules; and they are playable by younger and older players, as well as new and experienced gamers. All the games’ playing times range from 15-45 minutes.

The Mother Road is a press-your-luck race across Route 66 by 2-4 players (5 can play if using the Pink Cadillac expansion).  The player pieces are wooden cars, representative of classics found on Route 66 in days gone by — a canary yellow 60’s Mustang; a pale blue Thunderbird from the 50’s (with portholes); a cherry red Ford pickup truck (featured in the Eagle’s first big hit Take It Easy); and a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  A Pink Cadillac can be a FREE add-on to Kickstarter backers as well (see below).  Lots of Route 66 iconic landmarks are represented by photos and graphic images on the nearly 4 foot long neoprene mat board for the game; and the dice are all in player colors too! Races are usually closely-contested and take 30-45 minutes. The rules are easily learned, and this game can be enjoyed by serious or casual gamers ages 8 & up.

As of August 23rd, this project has raised $10,000 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 9 days left to raise as much as it can.  For a pledge of $8, you will get one Sixes game.  For a pledge of $15, you will get one America’s Main Street Route 66 game.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/eaglegryphon/route-66-the-mother-road-sid-sackson-americas-main-street?
