4 Ways To Boost Your Reactions When Gaming

When you’re playing multiplayer games online, you’re up against some stiff competition. If you want to come out on top, you need lightning fast reactions. Practicing the game is obviously important, but there are a few other simple things you can do to help boost your reaction times and improve your performance in multiplayer games.

Measure Your Reaction Times

Before you can do anything to improve your reactions, you should test them to see how quick they are. You can use the ruler trick, which involves getting somebody to drop a ruler and then catching it between your thumb and forefinger. Test your reactions and practice this on a regular basis and you can hopefully speed up your reactions.

Warm Up Your Hands

When athletes are competing, they always warm up beforehand, and you should do the same when gaming. If your hands are cold and the muscles are stiff, your movements will be slower and less fluid, so you won’t react quickly. So, make sure that you play in a nice warm room and if you get cold hands, you could even try wearing some gloves. Before you play, do a few stretches for your hands and wrists and clench your fist and release a few times. It’s only a small thing, but it makes a big difference.

Get The Right Setup

The setup that you play on makes a big difference too. If you’re using a cheap keyboard and mouse, they won’t be as comfortable in your hands and it will be harder to react quickly. So, improve your gaming setup and you should notice a big difference in your performance in multiplayer games.

As well as getting the right equipment, you need to make sure that it’s working correctly. Often, people think that their reactions are the problem when, in reality, it’s because their mouse isn’t working properly and the connection is bad. Try these fixes for your mouse if you think that it might not be working. Investing in a good setup and making sure that it’s all working smoothly will make a big difference to your performance.

Practice On A Range Of Games

People often think that the best way to speed up their reactions and improve performance on a certain game is to play that game over and over. But even though practice will help you get better at the game, you are only learning to react quickly in specific situations. If you want to improve your general reactions, you need to practice in a number of situations, so playing a lot of different games will make a big difference. Simple platformers like Super Mario are ideal for boosting your reactions, even if you are hoping to improve your performance in first-person shooters. If you focus all of your time on one game, you are building muscle memory but you are not necessarily improving your overall reaction times as much as you could be if you played a range of games.

If you follow these simple tips, you can drastically improve your performance when gaming by boosting your reactions.
