Crowdsourcing Mornings: Basil’s Quest

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

“Basil’s Quest, A Tale of Dogged Determination” is a children’s chapter book for ages 8-12. The book measures 5″x 8″ and is a hardcover first edition.  The story includes six black and white illustrations by Amanda Penecale to help children visualize Basil in his adventures. This story is about many things, but the essence of it is kindness. Above all, I hope it inspires young readers to be kind, especially to animals.

  • Animal rescue is very close to my heart and I plan on donating a portion of the profits from the sale of each book to animal rescue organizations.
  • It’s my hope that by reading Basil’s Quest, children will learn the importance of proper animal care, and remember what to do if they find a lost dog.
  • I also wrote Basil’s Quest so my grandchildren will know about my passion for rescuing dogs.

Fun-loving Basil, a playful black Labrador retriever, wants to be friends with everyone. People he encounters — well, most people — fall in love with him but no one can give him the forever home he craves. He decides to take matters into his own paws to create his own happy ending. A series of adventures — and misadventures — ensue. Though constantly thwarted in his quest, his dogged determination to find a family who he can love and who love him prevails in the end.

As of July 22nd, this project has raised $5,030 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 3 days left to raise as much as it can.  For a pledge of $20, you will get one autographed hardcover book.  For a pledge of $30, you will get one book and bookmark.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/291943084/basils-quest?
